Austrian Banking Showdown

If you put a handful of praxeologists in a room together for long enough, sooner or later they are going to start yelling at each other about banking. Sooner or later, a fight will break out.

This coming Monday, the Mises Circle will be holding an Austrian Banking Showdown between free bankers and full reserve bankers, backed 100% by raw economic theory.

In the first corner, we have the underdog free bankers led by George Selgin and Larry White, arguing for fractional reserve banking in “In Defense of Fiduciary Media-or, We are Not Devo(lutionists), We are Misesians!”

And in the other corner, we have the heavyweight champions, straight outta Auburn, Hans-Hermann Hoppe, Jörg Guido Hülsmann, and Walter Block arguing for full reserve banking in “Against Fiduciary Media.”

Can the full reserve bankers hold onto their title as the reigning champion of thought in the Austrian school? Or can the free bankers show that maybe they aren’t as backed by commodities as they thought? Join us Monday to find out!
