How an Economy Grows and Why it Doesn’t
This week the Mises Circle will be diving into capital theory, and what better way to do that than through Irwin Schiff’s classic comic book, How an Economy Grows and Why it Doesn’t!
Our friend Able wants to improve his life on a small island, but of course, the only way for him to do so is to save his fish instead of consuming him. Soon enough he has enough fish to invest in capital, which only increases his amount of fish faster. Low and behold a thriving fish economy is able to grow! Just watch out for the island’s bully, Franklin Dee, who is keen on distorting the economy and keeping it from going for his own benefit!
How an Economy Grows and Why it Doesn’t is a simple comic book, yet it provides key insights onto the importance of savings and capital in an economy and the troubles of distorting these factors. You won’t want to miss out!
